I've mentioned before that I believe everyone is born with a purpose or potential in life. Most people aren't aware of their full potential or take the wrong path than the one they should be on to fulfill their purpose in life. It can be difficult to realize your life's potential, but if everyone took the time to evaluate just what they are supposed to accomplish with their life, the world would be a much better place.
Recently, I met a man who proves that you can live up to your potential in life, and change lives in the process. Lepolia West is a man who proves you can live up to your life's potential, even if you aren't aware you have one. Lepolia West is a former Chicago Police officer, and while serving the department, an abandoned infant came into the hospital West had been working at as a second job. West didn't even want children, but something about this infant compelled him to want to become the infant's father. Eventually, he came to realize, this child had come into his life for a reason. His life's mission was to become the father this baby needed.
Although West had an extreme passion to become the boy's father, it wasn't easy because he was a police officer, which is a very dangerous career choice, and he was a bachelor. At the time, bachelors just weren't adoptive parent material. But, West didn't care he was fighting an impossible battle. He knew he was supposed to be the boy's father, and he wasn't going to give up-- even with the odds against him.
West's determination eventually paid off, and he not only adopted the child, but became the first bachelor in Illinois to adopt. Now, West is determined to inspire adoptions, to changes lives around the world.
West's story proves every life has a potential, and you can live up to your potential in life, even when the odds are against you. Because West lived up to his potential in life, he changed the abandoned infant's life, the infant changed West's life, and now West is determined to help others change even more lives.
Imagine a world where everyone lived up to their potential in life. It just takes one person to start the cycle for changing the world into a better place, and West's story proves it.
If you haven't done so already, I highly recommend reading Lepolia West's book, "Officer, why don't you adopt him?" This book depicts the true and suspenseful details surround West's struggle to adopt the infant.
